Summary/Abstract: The study deals with ‘regained’ popularity of the names SIMONIDA (in Serbia) and DESISLAVA (in Bulgaria). Cultural events related to literature, theater, cinema, television made those names fashionable in the XX century, while their current presence in the naming practice has a sociopolitical hint.
