Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present one of the new solutions of semantic paradoxes –Anil Gupta’s “revision theory of truth”. Instead of viewing the extension of truth-predicate as determined by rule of application, revision theory interprets it by rule of revision, producing successive approximations of its extension. This leads to various revision processes some of which are “pathological” because do not stabilize in finite number of steps. There exist, however, circularly defined predicates, which revision sequences are not pathological in this sense. Here we present the semantical motivation, conceptual apparatus, future perspectives and some of the philosophical implications of Gupta’s new theory.
