Summary/Abstract: Today, as it was in the past, some of the units of measure meanings, values of which are known just by the public are used besides the valid, formal units of measure. These units of measure have changed in order to keep up with the time. It is clear that these units of measure does not always give a specific and certain unit. These units, even in the Turkey Turkish, can be different according to the time, used regions and dialects. A pinch, until hell freezes over, as heavy as hell , etc… Most of the units of measure are not used in these days. But they can be found in some proverbs, phrases, ballads and folk songs. Among the units which are used, we can find loan-words. Units of measure gathered from the sanned soureces, collection dictionary which is the pioneerring one, by the way of collection were classified and defined under the names of length, weight, time, distance, amount, etc…
