Summary/Abstract: The stages in the development of the Bulgarian literary language have been influenced by both culturalhistorical factors (mainly in its formation during the Bulgarian Renaissance) and predominantly by socio-economic reasons after 1989 bearing in mind the fact that we, all the Bulgarians, are its authors. We are not going to analyze here the role of the Institute for Bulgarian Language and their orthography dictionaries published in the years; we are going to focus our attention on the question whether a change is needed in some domains of the Bulgarian literary language from the perspective of its adequate function and its correct use.
