İÇ KARAARSLAN MOSQUE AND TILES

Summary/Abstract: Many architectural works were built in Konya during the Anatolian Seljuk period. The works that were at the service of the people of that period have different functionality and different architectural features. Ic Karaarslan Mosque is one of those architectural works. As a result of the resource researches we have carried out and the on-site investigations, data about the structure’s plan, general characteristics and decorations have been acquired. It is understood that the tiles belonging to the structure are in the mihrab and window pediments and are applied in different techniques. As a result of the repairs made over time, it is seen that some tiles are not original but tried to be given a tile appearance effect with paint. In the research, the technique, dimensions, forms and motifs of the tiles from the mosque were determined. During the restoration of the structure, detailed information about the tiles in the mihrab of the mosque was given.
