Summary/Abstract: Teachers are one of the key elements of the teaching process. The level of effectiveness of interactions oriented towards students depends on their work and competence. Students who have special educational needs (SEN) require specific assistance. They need the application of appropriate methods of work and teaching as well as approaches following legal provisions. In recent years, inclusive education has been increasingly promoted and such an attitude guided the Polish legislator who in September 2017 introduced changes to the legal provisions on providing psychological and pedagogical assistance to students with SEN. Children’s Rights Ombudsman commissioned a survey among teachers, based on which it is possible to indicate the potentials and weaknesses in working with students with SEN.
