Summary/Abstract: The article presents the main changes in the last decade and a half of VET policy and VET administration. It deals with theories and efforts of how VET should reflect the labour demand of economy, and mentions some underlying motives. Referring to the needs of the economy, vocational training programs have been radically transformed in several steps. The change of government and political system in 2010 also represents a sharp boundary in VET administration. The key point of change is that politics also defines the priorities of vocational education and training, and there is practically no independent vocational training policy since the mid-2000s. This reduces the changes of a systemic renewal of VET in Hungary that is currently being focus of the ministerial policy, and is formulated in a new concept.
