Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the role of Yugoslav state institutions in the processes of stimulating the emigration of Muslims to the Republic of Turkey and the obstruction of their repatriation. Although the focus is placed on the period of the early socialist republic, the period of the Yugoslav monarchy is also reviewed considering that there have been signs of continuity in state policies. The analyzed mechanisms and strategies of local administration towards the expatriation of Muslims are additionally illuminated by examples from oral history.
