Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the important educational and social aspects of free time and its correlation with children’s loneliness. The article includes the most important functions and tasks to be fulfilled by spending free time properly. The collected literature and statistical data showed that the most popular forms of leisure activities are passive, for example, the Internet and television. To emphasize the importance of leisure time, the article presents the impact of undertaken actions on the functioning of a child, shaping his or her attitudes and values and the consequences in the future. It turns out that the family, school and peer environment are significant here. Additionally, an attempt was made to define the loneliness of children and to outline the background of this feeling. Attention was drawn to the varied causes of the phenomenon. The greatest responsibility for the loneliness of children is borne by their parents. They should be initiators of creative family entertainments, to inspire constructive free time with parents. Unfortunately, social changes have led to the decrease of the educational role of the family. As a result, more and more children feel lonely and are not taught to organize their time properly. The collected materials and theoretical analysis of data suggest that there may be multiple relationships between leisure activities and a sense of loneliness among children.
