Summary/Abstract: Feuilleton is a journalistic genre in which its writer has an opportunity to express his thoughts in probably the most creative way in comparison to all the other genres of emotional journalism. While for example a reportage has to be based on facts, feuilleton can be mixed also with fiction. This places it somewhere between journalism and fiction, which is also how most of our respondents perceive it. Nevertheless, the main focus of our paper wasn’t to review the genre but to answer the question, why is feuilleton so rare in current Slovak print medias. For example, in socialistic journalism it had its own place mainly thanks to the fact that the author didn’t have to be specific in explaining the issues and naming the persons or institutions. Nowadays the authors rather tend to avoid the genre. Is feuilleton a relic? Are the journalists not able to use it to express the nature of current issues? Is it not interesting for the readers anymore? Or is it the current generation of young journalists that favors other journalistic genres?
