Educational Problems of Children Functioning at the Family  Shelter

Summary/Abstract: In situations of multilateral disintegration of the family system, social destruction of the home environment there is a need for mental and physical isolation of a child. Changing family environment for a child can bein the form of institutional care or a foster family. Vital, though not prevalent in Poland, are foster families which are  serving as Children’s Emergency Shelter. This form of foster care is beneficial in terms of upbringing, socialization and mental health of children. The decision to place children or a child in a foster care can also be a serious warning for the biological family, because the elimination of social pathology in their environment, may be a necessary condition for the restoration of custody of children.
