Summary/Abstract: In this study we have analysed a linguistic aspect of the proverbs concerning the concision in their expression or the language simplification. This concision favours a better understanding of the proverbs and a rapid fastening in the memory of the community whose history and life experience are reflected in these sayings.Such a characteristic feature is pointed out by the use of a syntactic and a stylistic method - the omission of some elements from the structure of the proverb enunciation. This omission brings about syntactic reorganization without altering the meaning of the communication. We emphasised especially those constructions where two components having different syntactic functions are missing. Their reorganization on the semantic level is made easier by the verbal and situational context. The chosen examples prove that the principle of saving words is frequently used in proverbs.
