Summary/Abstract: The paper is focused on the folklore customs from the village Venetia de Jos, situated in the Olt Country, in the vicinity of the town Fagaras, as they have been described by the gifted village teacher Viorica Eugenia Stoica. The description is charged with melancholy, appreciation and intense human emotions. The methodology is based on Bachelard's concept of profoundness and on Poenaru's approach to the semiotics of light. They are meant to surface the diversity and specificity of the customs presented in Stoica's ethnographical contribution.
