THE CONTRIBUTION OF VIOLINIST DUMITRU BLAJINU TO PRESERVING AND PROMOTING TRADITIONAL MUSICAL CULTURE

Summary/Abstract: Dumitru Blajinu, a descendant from a fiddler’s dynasty with old traditions from the north of Moldova, manifested himself as a remarkable fiddler by being different in his natural and authentic interpretation that was very close to the naturalness of the rustic folk song. At the same time, he proved to be a talented folklorist, teacher and researcher. He published a number of collections of folklore which are of great value from the point of view of preserving and promoting the zonal authentic manner of playing the violin.
