Summary/Abstract: In the present article we have defined the magic thought along the evolution of the human society. We emphasized the importance of the sacred for the man of the ancient societies. Then, the Renaissance was a very significant moment when modern sciences witnessed an outstanding advance and philosophy and occultism flourished under the influence of the ideas of the neo-Platonism. The magic thought represented the first spiritual manifestation of the ancient people. Nowadays, magic is seen either as a „pre-science” or as a predecessor of many trades. In our times, magic is also perceived as an illegal activity which implies supernatural and unconventional means that defy the laws of the rational sciences as physics or chemistry. Man of the archaic societies lived in harmony with the universe while modern man lives in a de-sacred world. There are many people in our contemporary society who refuse to accept the transcendental dimension. Modern man is less and less confident in the power of the spiritual values such as magic or religion. At a certain point, modern man believed that all technical achievements could offer him comfort although this idea proved to be false.
