Summary/Abstract: The paper is aiming at discussing the preliminary conclusions drawn from editing the documents of the sessions the synods of the bishopric Biertan/Birthälm held from 1618 to 1753. There are three main problems the author discusses, namely: the general canonical visitations, the negotiation from the middle of the 17th century, when the „approbate”, the first constitution, was elaborated and the controversy concerning the reception of pietistic ideas by the Lutheran Saxon priests.
