Summary/Abstract: Cemal Süreya is a poet who commodifies the female body as a symbol of sexuality and does not diminish intelligence. The most common theme (female / sexuality) of his poetry was accompanied by a sense of humor evoked by the same frequency and mostly irony. The habit of his sarcasm made the element of humor one of the main characteristics of Cemal Süreya poetry. While making humor, Süreya mainly used absurdity, word games and inverse reconciliations. One of the important sources of humor in Cemal Süreya poetry is the ironies which aim to criticize on an individual and social basis. The poet, who is very fond of the product of intelligence, applied to parodic discourse and wit.
