Summary/Abstract: The different powers of the president legitimize the presidential institution differently in the system of state authorities. The origin of the presidential veto can be found in absolute monarchy, the separation of powers, the rule of law and fundamental rights. The power of the President to return acts is limited in form, subject, time and consequences. This paper presents the veto mechanism. The idea is to find the connection between the veto mechanism and its legal and political effects.
