Summary/Abstract: Colonel Nicolae Secară, officer in World War I, within Russian Army, participated in fights and battles in Prussia and Galicia. On the Romanian frontline and at Odesa, influenced by revolutionary and nationalistic ideas, he got involved together with other Romanian – Moldavian officers in the fight for Bessarabia’s freedom and autonomy. He contributed to the newspaper called „Cuvânt moldovenesc”; he participated in the great meeting of Moldovan soldiers from Odesa; he consolidated the Soldierly Committees in Bessarabia; he participated in setting the first Bessarabian military unit – 1st Moldovan Regiment.
