Key Projects as a Factor of the Socio-economic Development of the Region

Summary/Abstract: Key projects are investment projects of strategic importance, and their implementation is important from the point of view of achieving the assumed indicators of socio-economic development of the country. Key projects have the greatest impact on the development of voivodships. One of the subjects of the study are local government units in the province Kuyavian-Pomeranian. The aim of the study was to obtain opinions of local government units in the field of assessment of the effects of implemented key projects under the Regional Operational Program of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship for the needs of regional development. The results of the survey carried out among communes indicate that the key projects in the opinion of 45% of respondents are focused on the areas of research important for the development of the region, responding to the needs of industry, and especially for small and medium-sized enterprises in assessing the legitimacy of key projects under the Regional Program Operational of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship 75% of local government units indicated that they represent a chance to increase the attractiveness of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.In addition, the key project carried out in the voivodship was analyzed. Kuyavian-Pomeranian, the only of its kind in Europe, Astro-Baza astronomical observatories, in the context of its promotion and tourist attractiveness. An assessment of the functioning of astro-bases operating in the municipalities of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship was carried out, and free interviews were held with coordinators during Astrofestiwal in 2017. Created astro-bases should be an important source of strategic competitive advantage for municipalities, and their potential for innovation of the region should be conducive to creating local entrepreneurship.
