Summary/Abstract: During his career, prof. Salih Jalimam has left a major mark on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s historiography, especially medieval history as well as the study of the past of local communities. His interest in the Bosnian Middle Ages did not leave him until the very end, and the process of “spiritual encounters” of various religious communities in a relatively small area was a phenomenon at the heart of his research. Salih Jalimam was a pioneer of a micro historical approach to exploring the past of local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is the author of dozens of books about different segments of the past of his beloved city, which makes him the most important researcher of the history of Zenica. He was one of the founders of the University of Zenica, the first Dean of the Faculty of Law in Zenica, and has worked as an external associate at the Universities of Tuzla, Mostar and Bihac. He is remembered as an authoritative and interesting professor whose lectures did not leave anyone indifferent. He actively participated in the cultural life of Zenica and Bosnia and Herzegovina, persistently insisting on the necessity of academic communication for the wider community. Salih Jalimam passed away on April 26, 2019, leaving the academic community of Bosnia and Herzegovina to lose a valuable member and the city of Zenica its most dedicated and loyal researcher.
