Summary/Abstract: The demands on future aviation specialists working in extreme conditions to solve problems efficiently emphasize the need to use new approaches in their professional training. Despite the utmost importance of training student pilots’ judgment abilities, there is still a lack of research regarding the development of future pilots’ critical thinking skills. This study has attempted to define the extent of the effect of teaching critical thinking techniques on the development of student pilots’ critical thinking skills in the framework of Aviation English. To conduct an experiment the participants were divide into two equal groups (the control group and the experimental one). Each group consisted of 21 people. In both groups the same content of Aviation English material which corresponded fully to the syllabus was taught. In the experimental group the teacher focused on developing critical thinking skills through special techniques in addition to the Aviation English material. The findings of the current study revealed that there was a significant difference in terms of the experimental group’s performance critical thinking skills post-test. The implementation of critical thinking techniques affected students’ critical thinking skills, showing a significant increase in the number of students who obtained a high level in the experimental group.
