Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to identify the motives of expatriates’ foreign assignments and to diagnose the process of transfer of knowledge and experience between expatriates and local staff in the German subsidiary in Poland. The methods applied in this procedure include the analysis of documentation carried out based on the materials made available by the company, and on the corporate websites of the subsidiary and the headquarters of the corporation, as well as interviews. Structured interviews lasting about 60-75 min. were conducted in April 2014 and involved a group of 12 Polish managers cooperating with expatriates on an everyday basis.
