Settlements of Gumelniţa culture in the Prut-Dniester area (catalog)

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the history of the researches of the early Eneolithic settlements discovered in the steppe of Budzhak. There are three stages. The author proposes a catalog of Gumelniţa culture settlements of the Prut-Dniester interfluve. 37 points were mapped as possible settlements, four of which are under great question; the existence of 12 sites on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and 21 on the territory of Ukraine was confidently confirmed. A table with some erroneous data on the existence of Gumelniţa settlements is presented. Their spatial distribution allows us to trace the routes and directions of colonization of this territory during the early Eneolithic period. The area of settlements Bolgrad-Aldeni and their concentration in the south-western zone of the Prut-Dniester interfluve is determined.
