Summary/Abstract: In the vocational foster families acting as family rescue, the children from dysfunctional family environments are very often educationally neglected. The pedagogic work of vocational caregivers is therefore usually of compensatory character. Basic actions taken by foster families studied with the Silesian province are: conversion of fixed patterns of behavior and value system, supporting education and equalizing educational negligence, the implementation of the responsibility, learning of the useful (consistent with social norms) leisure time and reinforcement of the desired behaviors. Positive results of upbringing, in addition to the contribution and quality of work of foster parents, also depend on the age of the children and the time elapsed from the moment of placing the juvenile in foster environment, as well as the level of identified educational negligence.
