Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to trace the western and Polish reception of Jean- ette Winterson’s novel Written on the Body. This treatment aims to show gender stereotypes that are still firmly rooted in the consciousness of critics and readers and which the writer tries to unmask and deconstruct in her work.
