Summary/Abstract: In Romanian criminal law, the notion of public servant has a very broad meaning, including all categories of people working in public administration, both civil servants and ordinary employees. The question is whether the notary public goes into this category or not.Public servants are obliged to perform their duties correctly and promptly in the interest of the citizens. This is the reason why the criminal law protects the prestige of public servants, but establishes severe measures in case they break the law.
