Summary/Abstract: Despite the benefits of the Information Society, the security environment nowadays is threatened by the lack of stability and the appeal to use of force in international relations, both through traditional and unconventional mechanisms. This analytical approach highlights the main features of the new international environment, in order to identify the new threats and challenges that justify the extension of the traditional concept of security. The conventional military element has changed in the relationships between states, in terms of attack capabilities, including of cyber nature.This paper deals with the importance of the cyber dimension of national and international security and presents cyber security in terms of military reasons to use force, as part of the military security sector, with interference in the economic, societal, political and environmental security sectors.
