TRADITION AND IDEOLOGY (POLEMIC BETWEEN ZORAN MIŠIĆ AND MARKO RISTIĆ OR WHAT IS KOSOVO PLEDGE)

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes polemic that was conducted in 1961 by Marko Ristić and Zoran Mišić and its broader context that is constituted of several texts that precede and several texts that follow and represent the reaction on the polemic. The fundamental principles of literary theory of the participants in the polemic are presented and they show completely different standings. Zoran Mišić represented his own position in literary theory, as well as in all the polemics in which he participated, and always insisted on importance of tradition for Serbian literature, especially in poetry, and he reminded his opponent of Kosovo pledge that is the highest ethical ideal and it was inherited from the Hellenic culture. On the other hand, Marko Ristić had rejected his standings in literary theory and replaced them with communist ideology that had a negative point of view towards Serbian tradition because it persisted on Kominterna’s conclusions of Serbian nationalism. In that manner, Marko Ristić set the political goal in front of literature, unlike Zoran Mišić who always thought only for literature.
