Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the issue of translatological typology of texts and it is argued that typology is not only a theoretical issue, but also an important point of reference for the interaction of translatology with other disciplines. Problems of equivalence occur at various levels, ranging from word level to textual level. Since the target text can never be absolutely equivalent to the source text at all levels, practitioners and scholars have distinguished different types of equivalence and all of them are illustrated and described here.
