Summary/Abstract: Jeremiah is by excellence the prophet of sorrow and pain, but also the man of senses and action. In the six „confessions” from his book, beside imprecations and personal prayers, we find an emphasis on an emotional intensity that shows him full of dignity. The buying of land in a difficult historical context, the letter to the exiles from Babylon, as well as other symbolic actions contain messages of hope and comfort. The people can enjoy their family and home, while keeping their faith in truth, good and beauty, weather we are in Jerusalem or Babylon. The people are blessed while they remain faithful to the Lord. The Diaspora is a challenge for the faithful Jew, and dignity is a feature of the preservation of religious freedom.
