The application of the multinomial logit model in evaluating employment odds for the unemployed job seekers

Summary/Abstract: In 2010 over twenty thousand job seekers left the register of the Local Labour Office in Szczecin. The reasons for deregistering varied. The aim of the article is to analyse the employment odds and to assess the probability of finding a specific type of job depending on the job seekers’ characteristics such as gender, education and age. The analysis was carried out in two stages. First, the impact of the job seekers’ characteristics on the likelihood of their leaving unemployment by finding a job was examined by means of the binomial logit model. Second, the authors focused on assessing the odds of finding a specific type of employment with the use of the multinomial logit model.
