Forecasting of hog livestock production profitability in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses the accuracy of short-term profitability forecasts of hog livestock on the basis of the price level of hog livestock compared to the market prices of rye and barley and the price of piglets. For a linear trend with multiplicative seasonality, Winters’ exponential smoothing method was used to forecast the market prices of cereals, while to forecast the market prices of hog livestock and piglets was prepared with the use of the modified classical method based on multiplicative model. The obtained forecasts were used to define price relations that were further subjected to accuracy assessment.
