Summary/Abstract: Starting with the contention that the disperse character of the Croatian literature is the result of geographical and political circumstances, the author discusses the Slavonian literature from the point of view of literary history as well as theory and methodology. After discussing its reception and the aspects of its canonisation, the author questions its identity. The nature and the borderlines of the Slavonian literature, the author believes, are to be redefined in accordance with »new regionalism «, which he sees as a possible answer to the homogenising process of globalisation.
