Summary/Abstract: Most of family owned businesses (FOBs) in Poland face a considerable challenge, namely performing succession for the first time. Another significant challenge to be taken is to operate the FOB in a socially responsible manner. The author of this article made an attempt to include both issues as they are so crucial to the family owned businesses. Therefore, a particular emphasis is placed on socially responsible succession performed in the family owned businesses which is the main objective of this article. The article structure was determined to meet the main objective of this article. It describes the issues of succession in family owned businesses, the CSR concept, possible implementation of succession in a socially responsible manner. This paper is based on the analysis of up-to-date literature.
