Summary/Abstract: Based on the example of Vladimir Pištalo’s novel Millennium in Belgrade, this paper analyzes the images and stereotypes presented through the imaginations of socialist Yugoslavia and Serbia, that is, Belgrade in the 1990s, which cannot be separated from global cultural and ideological conjunctions. More precisely, the functions and modes of constructing utopian and ideological images of the period covering the last two decades before the Millennium are considered and are trying to highlight the mechanisms and functions of the presentation / demystification of a historical period from the literary-imagological point of view.
