REFLECTIONS OF THE ISLAMIC THOUGHT IN THE NOVEL THE SORROWS OF YOUNG WERTHER FROM J.W. GOETHE – POSSIBLE INTERPRETATIONAL INSIGHTS

Summary/Abstract: In this work, we will deal with the influence of the Qur’an and Islamic thought as a whole on the literary creation of Goethe in the novel The Sorrows of Young Werther. We will analyze and present the most significant segments of Goethe’s philosophy and literary poetics that evolved under the influence of Islamic thought: the relation between worldly and otherworldly, the pragmaticity, the importance of nature in the understanding of God and understanding the world, the destiny of human existence.
