Summary/Abstract: Functioning in accordance with Corporate Social Responsibility rules needs taking appropriate entrepreneurial actions. Among the Polish organizations, especially small and medium-sized, the idea of Social Responsibility is unfortunately little known and widespread, despite the fact that the benefits achieved through it are important for both the organization and society as a whole. This article aims to present the phenomenon of Corporate Social Responsibility in terms of achieving competitive advantage thanks to it on the example of sawmill industry, which because of its location, numerous health risks, and even the risk of lives of workers and poor financial liquidity, is quite a specific market, what only increases the need of acting in accordance with CSR.
