Summary/Abstract: The increasing volatility of supply and demand as well as other disruptions and risks in turbulent environment are putting rising pressure on supply chain managers. On the other hand, the era of digital supply chain management creates new possibilities for enterprises to build new capabilities and gain competitive advantage in the 21st century. The aim of the article is to present the phenomenon of control towers in global supply chain management. Best practices were developed by global leaders from the Gartner Supply Chain Top 25 list, like e.g. Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Cisco, Coca-Cola or Walmart. The pillars of control towers’ initiative are: integration of information systems and collaboration between business partners. As a platform or hub, control towers are based on advanced information and communication technologies (including Big Data and advanced analytics), processes and organizational structure in a central location, developed for several business outcomes. The most important business effects are end-toned visibility and maximum flexibility to execute smart responses to external and internal events. The presented case studies highlighted the role of control towers in business processes management.
