Summary/Abstract: Management style is typical of the overall behavior of the manager. It is a compromise between the manager’s preferences and management conditions. Among the theories of leadership styles the phenomenon of potential and real style differentiation is often described. The aim of the study is to evaluate these styles and find out if they converge. The research material was a group of 310 representatives of nursing executives, selected within medicinal entities in the Pomeranian province. The method of analysis of the literature, with classical techniques of content and diagnostic survey using survey techniques and the method of estimation using a numerical self - esteem scales of analyzed characteristics were used in the study. Statistical methods were applied to analyze the phenomena using measures of central tendency techniques, measures of variability and tests of statistical significance using STATISTICA, version 9.0. Although preference of orientation at people was declared by 63.8% of respondents, autocratic approach in management was diagnosed in 60% of the surveyed. Potential and real style of nursing management executives in the group are significantly different. Such conditions should be created, for managerial preferences to be consistent with real styles, for high efficiency of management.
