Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to evaluate the Forest Open Air Museum in Vydrovo in Central Slovakia and its use in forest tourism. The article characterizes the functions of forest museum, identifies the activities of involved stakeholders and evaluates the visitors’ numbers to the Vydrovo forest museum. This forest museum is an example of good practise using the forest for education and recreation. The article deals with the cooperation of involved stakeholders, their functions and activities related to the development of tourism in the forest environment. The analysis is bases on secondary andprimary sources. The secondary sources were obtained from the stakeholders’ materials. To obtain primary sources, structured interview with stakeholders from Vydra NGO was conducted. The article attempts to better understand the role and functions of forest tourism in regional development in Slovakia.
