Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to identify the needs for formal and informal careover the oldest (aged 75). This issue was one of the research objectives of the project Carefor the elderly from the perspective of two generations – the carers and the cared for: Implications for the elderly care system (grant no. UMO-2013/09/D/HS5/04459) financed by the National Science Center. The starting point of the analysis was the survey of households with people 75 years of age. In the first phase of the study, individual interviews were carried out with 15 supportive dyads (30 interviews). In the second part of the study, the questionnaire was used as a research method. The study was conducted among 200 households with seniors over 75 years and 200 seniors indicated by their family carers. Both in-depth personal interviews and questionnaire interviews were conducted in Łódź and Warsaw. Łódź and Warsaw are cities characterized by the most advanced aging process of the population inthe context of large Polish cities. The results of the study enabled us to identify the current situation in the care of the oldest seniors in Poland and to diagnose supporters and supporters. The role of foreigners in the care and support system for seniors was also indicated.
