Summary/Abstract: The paper puts forward the hypothesis that socially responsible innovations as a new challenge for retail chains in Poland. They are crucial for the development of a responsible society, but also for a sustainable economy. The practices of retail chains are increasingly accompanied by concern and responsibility for the development of consumers, their education in the field of environmental protection, healthy food, responsible shopping etc. These issues are determined by the problematic and substantive scope of the paper, the aims of whose are: diagnosis the specifics of socially responsible innovations in retail and identification of examples of socially responsible innovations implemented by selected retail chains in Poland. The paper applies secondary research in the form of critical analysis of literature and with the use of documentation method and materials from studied sector, including the analysis of activities of selected entities, the leaders in introducing socially responsible innovations in retail trade (case research method).
