Summary/Abstract: After the Cold War, economic growth of People’s Republic of China has increased China’s interaction with the world. One of the most important regions China opens to the world through trade relations is the Southeast Asia. In this context, Association of Southeast Asian Nations has contributed to the economic integration of the region very largely. This article discusses commercial relations China has developed with the countries of the Southeast Asia. This article, which focuses on the foundations of Chinese hegemony open to regional cooperation on Southeast Asia, also analyzes how much China’s foreign aid system for the countries in the region is integrated into commercial activities. Textile and arms trade, which are two important items for China to develop trade relations with Southeast Asian countries, are discussed and the presence of China’s construction firms in Southeast Asia is examined.
