Present customs of fiancés with the example of sexual intercourses in the pre-marriage period

Summary/Abstract: Premarital sex has become part of social customs and couples deciding to be sexually active before marriage are no longer ostracised. In Polish society which largely admits to having been brought up in the spirit of Catholicism, religious convictions do not play a decisive role in young people’s conscious sexual abstinence. The aim of the research was to explore selected aspects of sexual activity of engaged couples. In the research procedure, attention was paid to the following issues: sexual initiation of engaged couples, its motivation as well as motivation for sexual abstinence, filming the wedding night in the respondents’ perception and the value of premarital chastity in their opinion. The diagnostic survey method was used in the research in which 171 engaged couples took part. The questionnaire was adopted as the research method.
