Summary/Abstract: Starting from the days of early Christianity from the naïve hagiographies (the lives of the saints) of the anonymous authors and to the biographies of remarkable personalities, deeply and complexly rendered in our day and which, thanks to their important multifunctionality, have always been in the centre of attention of the writers, people of art and culture. That is why all the filmographies of the world, if we refer to the cinematographic art with its great artistic-aesthetic potential, contain numerous documentary and fictional historical-biographical films, dedicated to personalities from the most diverse fields and with unusual, often dramatic, destinies. Of course, our national filmography is rich in this kind of non-fiction film, because almost all the directors from the Moldova-film studio have been involved in making some historical-biographical films: Anatol Codru, Emil Loteanu, Vlad Druc, Iacob Burghiu, Pavel Bălan, Mircea Chistrugă, Andrei Buruiană, Nicolai Harin etc. In the field of the historical-biographical film, the poet-filmmaker Anatol Codru showed himself fully, always interested in both his poetic and cinematic creations, in the destinies, biographies of personalities, which holds everything that our nation has of its most valuable – spiritual heritage.
