Summary/Abstract: The European Union (EU) is the result of a process that is complex, concerted, voluntary, dynamic, progressive and of a long duration. As a human community, the EU is based on a set of common values and interests unanimously shared by the Member States (MS) and their citizens. The EU defends and protects its values and interests both inside its borders and worldwide. From the sociological point of view, the process of EU development is based on several dimensions, namely economic, social, psychosocial, political, military and environment.
