Summary/Abstract: Bearing in mind that research into Hungarian-Serbian language contacts has a long and rich tradition, but noting that certain segments have not yet been adequately described, this paper aims at presenting and interpreting additional characteristic interference phenomena. Attention is drawn to the problem of the use of cases and prepositional case constructions in Serbian by students whose mother tongue is Hungarian. The most frequent errors that can detect the influence of the Hungarian language are presented, as well as some errors attributable to interlingual analogy. Analysis has proved that students often transfer the rules previously grasped in their mother tongue into the language which they are acquiring. The testing of the production of Hungarian pupils learning Serbian has confirmed their readiness to communicate, it indicates a certain stage in their acquisition of the language, and can help towards planning the teaching of Serbian to non native Hungarian speakers.
