Summary/Abstract: Physical-chemical methods contribute to obtaining very important data regarding the characteristicsof a wide range of materials. Techniques such as infrared spectroscopy (FTIR spectroscopy) and thermogravimetricanalysis (TG) have been employed in determining the nature of possible traces of repair, namely thestructure and characteristics of repairs noted on a pot discovered in a” ritual” pit from the site of Unip-DealuCetățuica. The pot is the only of this type discovered in the pit in question, and its typology and breaking haveinitially led to the conclusion that the item had a ritual function. The obtained results have been analyzedcomparatively, i.e. the hypothesis of intentional destruction was partially infirmed by the repairs performedprior to its deposition in the pit.
