Summary/Abstract: The main groups of Romanians that were colonized, along the centuries, in Voivodina came from Banat and Transylvania. They still identify themselves as inhabitants from Banat and Transylvania, knowing their origin. They differ by the dialect they speak and by the clothes they wear. In our study we are researching the transylvanian or “criseni” Romanians living in the Serbian Banat region. They form a homogenous community, distinct from a spatial, ethnographic and cultural point of view, closed, until recently, to weddings with other Romanian groups inhabiting the same area. We have researched the following villages between 2004 and 2009: Toracu Mic, Iancaid, Clec, Satu Nou, Iabuca, Glogoni and Ovcea. We try to explain, using the existing documentation, the changes suffered in time by this cultural phenomenon, in order to create a suggestive image of the dynamic of the Romanian costume in Vojvodina, over approximately 300 years. We consider this subject, of the different phases of the Transylvanian Romanian costume in Voivodina and the changes in the identity discourse, to represent a fertile debate field for experts. This could open new research directions for the Romanian ethnological discipline.
